Ukraine's steel production fell by 17% in 11 months, to 21 million tons, mostly due to the military conflict in the east of the country where most of its steel plants are based. Data from the producers’ union showed pig iron output down by 14%, to 19.9 million tons, while rolled steel production dropped by 17%, to 18.3 million tons, all YoY. Steel production in January-October fell by 18% YoY, while output in 2014 was down by 17% YoY.
